Kayak MilkCrate or 5 Gal Bucket Riggin?

I use an oversized milk crate. I'll take some photos later. I have rod holders mounted to the crate. I attach the crate with turnbuckles rather than bungee. It tends to make a more secure attachment. I have also cut off the bottom of another crate to use as a top for the kayak crate. It has always worked for me.

I like the 6 gallon crates also. I built mine up so I can store stuff underneath and keep tackle boxes out of the water in the SOT from wave action.
Tie wrap PVC on for rod holders and use Cable Cuffs as ways to secure the rods.

I got luck and got this one given to me. You have to order them and shipping is as much as the crate. If anyone knows a local place, I would like to know about it.
My mount is just plain 1x4 lumber glued and screwed and sealed with the same deck Australian Timber sealer we use on the deck from lowes. Kayak Kevin uses a SS bar across the kayak in pad eyes and the crate rests on that be fore being bungeed down. He has a video on youTube showing it. I could have just spaced it up off the bottom 1 1/2" or 2" as I was just barely getting water into my plano crates. I did not have to go as high as I did. I planned on stuffing a striper or a dry bag under there. Plus this is designed to rest in the back of my commander too as I am too cheap to pay the shipping for another one. It's principle Darn it!"If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.

I bought a couple of crates from The Container Store, they have two sizes...1) standard 12" square ($10) and 2) 14" square ($13). They also sell a folding crate. I bought mine from the Tyson's Corner store and they have held up well so far. Here's the link to them:
