Most other grease will build up in and around fittings. Dielectric generally does not create a build up. I use dielectric grease on my FF connections all the time. I use dielectric grease on all of my electrical connections on the kayak without problem.

Dielectric grease is awesome! I was just using it for the spade terminals for the trolling motor addition. I squeeze some down in the connectors before inserting the wires and then crimp. Then no corrosion can build up in the connectors. I learned that from the jon boat days."If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.

thanks just bought some at Walmart. I wish you brought up the connector thing before I crimped all the wires. Anyway I might just cover them all in duct seal instead. Anyway thanks for the input everyone. Also how often do you guys regrease?Ocean Kayak Trident 13: Sand

Repeating the use of grease is based on visual inspection- if the connection has none, I put a dab on it- the only place this takes place is the connectors you disconnect frequently-"Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

Thanks for the helpful reminder. I’ve got the dielectric grease and used it to set up my battery wiring.
I have a question though. I have a new Lowrance Elite 4 that has a second temp/speed port. I guess I’ll just fill the port with dielectric grease to protect that too. I saw a photo that showed a plastic cap covering this port. May have been a makeshift cover made from some product that fit it.
Does anyone protect or use this TMP2 port if they have a similar ff setup?
This is my third ff but the first I’ve had with a second port. I don’t expect that I will have any need to use it.Hobie Pro Angler 12

I picked up a package of various sized blank off rubber/plastic slip over covers at auto parts store- I fill the port with grease and find the best fitting cap and forced it over the port to keep moisture out"Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS
