  • 12 volt fish finder battery

Anyone ever try using a 12v power tool battery? I've got 3-4 of them and am curious about how the connections can be made.

I recently hooked up my depth finder and I used an 8 "aa" battery holder (less than $3.00 at radio shack......http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062242) and connected a heavy duty 9v connector to the FF power cord (less than $3.00 for a pack of 5.....http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062218). I put an inline fuse that I already had on the positve cable of the fish finder. The battery pack is small enough to fit in a small Plano waterproof box along with extra fuses and I have the inline fuse in there as well. Now my fish finder is a plain B/W with no down/side imaging, but so far, I have used it over 10 hours on a set of batteries and it's still going strong. So far, I like this set up because it's so small & light.

I used the 8 AAA battery setup today and it worked great! My maiden voyage kayaking with a fishfinder. Even though I got skunked, it was neat to see structure that I've wondered about for years.

      Thanks for the tip!
