  • My new Wavewalk 500

I decided on one of these because it was be far easier on my back than any typical kayak. I demoed one while on vacation in FL and picked one up from the dealer in Richmond on the way home.

I've had it out three times in the four days I've been back from vacation, so there are likely more mods to come. Just today I found the newest mod, a plastic pallet. It gives me a larger rear deck and I can easily bungee/zip tie a cooler or my milk crate/rod holder to it when needed.

Looks like that thing would be very stable. I like the plastic pallet idea too.

Congrats on your W purchase. You bought your from Keith, in Richmond? I've got a yellow one and I love it. It's very easy to stand up and sight fish in it. I use mine mostly for fishing for snakeheads in Mallows Bay, Piscataway, & Mattawoman or for stripers in the creeks north of Baltimore in the fall. Yoav makes an awesome yak. Give me a shout if you want to yakfish sometime.

Yep, got it from Keith. Being just a few miles off I-95 after 10 hours on the road sure was convenient. I've already had it out fishing 3 of 5 days I've been back from vacation. Catching lots of fish too.

Today I made a simple cart for my Wavewalk. I wanted large diameter wheels for low rolling resistance and rough terrain ability, and relatively wide wheels for times I may be on sand.

I started with two wheels with 14" inflatable tires from Home Depot and a 5/8" steel rod for the axle. I drilled two holes through each end of the axle in order to insert R clips to secure the wheels. For the square aluminum tubing on the side I used the inner legs from an old broken EZup I had lying around. Drilled a few holes in the aluminum and then I was just a matter of putting it together. The last step was running bolts through the aluminum and the eyelets. I may eventually replace the bolts with a single rod with R clips on the ends.

Only takes seconds to completely disassemble if I wanted to stow it onboard.
