i got very tired of numb butt and decided to modify a yak seat. problem was couldnt find one that was comfy enough. found a folding seat in walmart . $ 34 later i was strapping a piece of steel tubing to it. mounted 2 bass pro shop rod holder mounts on the sides and was dumb founded as to why it wasnt done before. it reminds me of the jackson coosa and wilderness slayer seat. not ajustable but its incredibly comfy. was on it for 5 hours today and was readdy for 5 more. even has storage for plano boxes under seat. and yes its still very stable. and im 225 lbs. every ocean kayak drifter owner should do this.0526130849[1].jpg0526130849[1].jpg0526131444[1].jpg0526131443[1].jpg

That's a clever idea. As a former Drifter owner, I can vouch for the uncomfortable seating position. My only concern is that you have raised the center of gravity by at least several inches. It looks very calm in the photos you show. It might be somewhat less stable in rougher seas or if you lean too far out or twist around to get something from the rear. I hope you have continued good success and comfort with the seat.John Veil

it is seven inches higher than before. the photo was the first time it went fishing and it was calm. however this morning i took it to the susky and put it through sum rapids and bumping into rocks and it was fine. the drifter is very wide and its still very stable. i have a manta ray 12 and the drifter is still more stable. went out of worton creek this afternoon and put it through sum big boat wakes and never felt worried about flipping. i havent turtled a yak yet but i feel pretty safe with this one.
