Do you have any issues of it coming off? Not sure how you transport and store your kayak...
I store my yak on the side. Nothing comes off. That seal is 2 years old and still seals well. It holds the entire thing to the hull. It does leak, but very little....maybe a couple tablespoons every 2-3 trips, and I'm on the water 8-12 hrs per trip. I usually just repress the seal around the perimeter every 5-10 trips.

To make the seal, make about a half-inch diameter worm. Length of worm should be the perimeter of the cut plastic bottom. Press the worm on to the plastic edges. Attach to hull and press the seal down around the plastic perimeter.

Thanks guys. What a creative bunch.

Working on a duct seal / foam combo right now. Hmmm... marine grease... I remember reading about that...interesting option, until it spills I guess.

Thanks for the info! I did the same thing when I installed mine and I used to store the kayak on it's side as well. When I switched to storing it upside down it started leaking too often for my liking, so I switched to marine grease. I did like the wet well because it gave me good temperature readings. At least now its hassle free.

That's the nice thing about marine grease, it doesn't leak (or move). Once the transducer is squished in it's staying like that until you pull it off. It won't leak because the grease withstands high temperatures...

            ausome

i've been using duct seal to my previous kayak, i used the original transducer mount but don t use marine goop,i just surrounded the mount w/duck seal and fill it w/ h20 ,it works fine...but now you gave an idea to deal with h20 inside the hull, now i can make it permanent ...:THANKS BRO
