  • Repairing hole in my kayak

It's not quite a hole yet but its a very thin spot. I try not to drag my kayak but sometimes its unavoidable. There is a very thins spot on the bottom rear of my kayak and I tried some JB Weld. The spot was already roughed up enough but after patching it I took it for a while. Upon returning to the boat ramp, I found the patch was gone. JB Weld indicates that its good for marine use and all types of plastics and fiberglass. Any ideas on a different product? Ive used JB for many things over the years and was surprised to see that the patch just fell off.

Google PVC Welding. There is lots of information on it.

Take a look at this site when you have a minute.

I have the welding iron if you want to borrow it (shoot me a PM if you want to go that route).

You can buy the poly rods from these guys or I have heard you can sometimes get that stock from your kayak manufacturer.

I've used PC-7 epoxy successfully to patch a whole on the bottom. It needs to be replaced every so often but only takes minutes to do.

I have patched small holes in the keel and cracks in a scupper hole using Goop.

I second the weld method. I don't have the iron, but a heat gun and screwdriver work.
