  • Speed control, 403 torqeedo.

Just did my first run in my Hobie pro angler 14 a couple days ago. Trying to figure out how to rig things. Would like to have the speed control up next to the arm rest or mounted on the hand rail adjacent to the seat. I noticed a couple screw holes in the bottom of the unit. I had it in my lap or lying on the floor next to the seat. Didn't like that. How are you guys doing this? Also the elite 4 fish finder was useless mounted on the flat board up front. Couldn't see it, couldn't operate it. I will move it back to the hand rail also. Been looking at yakattack mounts and rails. Don't want to order something I can't use. Once I get this thing rigged will be heading to Florida to fish with my daughter and her husband who also have pro angler 14's. Like to have had a heart attack when UPS delivered my torqeedo to the wrong address. Had to get on the phone and find out where they delivered it and then go swipe it off some body's front porch. Hook1 gave me a 15% discount on my next purchase because of the mix up. That was nice. Your advise is appreciated. Good stuff on this forum.

I have the speed control on the right side by the arm and the FF on the left side within reach. Nothing else up front to avoid tangles when casting.

Mine is rail mounted. I use the Yakattack gear track with the rail mount and a screwball with the rammount on the bottom of the speed controller. It give the ultimate in adjustability so you can get it jus where it is the most comfortable

Getting ready to order a couple rail mounts. Is the screwball a 1" or 1.5 and does it fit the threads on the bottom of the controller? Thanks.

I just used a 1" rail mounted Ram ball and a ram ball mount. I have it on the right side.

Ok, I've ordered a couple yak tracks with clamps and some screw balls (one each size) and an elite mount to install the FF and the speed controller on the rails, one on each side. Also a YA zook tube rod holder. As memory maker mentioned above, would like to keep the front clear. Thanks for the replies, given me some idea of what to do. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Well I scavenged some Ram parts from a GPS mount on my atv. They bolted right up to the hand rail and controller. A great location. ram mount 1.jpg So I decided to check the motor. Wouldn't run. Got an error code of E30..Battery connection.Bummer. All the pins are there and straight. Don't know what the problem is or what caused it. Only one hour run time on the motor. Heading to Florida in a few days. Talked to Chad at Hook1. He said he will try to get me a new battery out this Monday. Hope that fixes the problem. Will see.

I keep all of my controls on the left so the right side is unobstructed for entry/exit. I also found a way to snake the lift cable and the reverse cable inside of the hull so that it is out of the way and will not get snagged by fishing hooks. I have done four or five installations now and pretty much have it down to a science. Feel free to come look at my setup if you like before you start drilling holes. I can also help you install it if you like. I am a federal contractor are and will soon be running out of work if the shutdown is not resolved. PM with your phone number if you want help.
