Lowrance HDS-5 Gen 2 versus Lowrance Elite 5 HDI

I am new to fish finders - for those in the know,

How does the HDS-5 Gen 2 compare with the Elite 5 HDI?

Why choose one over the other?

Looks like it boils down to bells and whistles. The elite is basic and the hds is more delux with the ability to add more to it. Basic suits my kayak needs, but I have the elite 4

I just picked up the Elite 5 DSI which does everything i can ever imagine needing to do in a kayak.. The set up included the gold mapping chip and is on sale for $399.

I almost got the HDI, and although i thought it may be cool to have both standard sonar and DSI, when it boiled down to it, they are both showing you the same thing and i couldn't justify the extra 100. bux.. I almost got the elite 4 but in the PA, my mounting point is a little further away so i wanted the bigger screen.

I think that anything in this level of FF does way more than anyone in a kayak needs it to, and it's more important to learn how to use it correctly than anything else..
