    DonV and ComeonFish,

    Thanks for the info,
ComeonFish, on your duct seal wet well method the Transducer bottom just sits on the Kayak? No space? I guess just enough water gets in there to push air out?

Yes,nothing between the tranducer and the hull.
Just place on the flat surface where the hull is always under the waterline. The wall doesn't have to be very high. If you want, you can make wall high and cover the tranducer completely except a small hole where you can pour the water using water bottle.

some people pour the water in and completely seal the wall. It's a $2.00 solution. no tools, no sanding, and no drying time. The duct seal gets hard in winter, though you can still form the shape and stickon the hull. The well works in 3-5' wave and after capsizing.

If you drilled a hole for wire you can also cover the hole with the duct seal and filled the inside of the FF mounting plate to seal the holes and mounting plate. remove excess duct seal is very easy

        Good to know.

I'll give it a go. I have a new Elite 4 on the way. I'm also getting one of the Tallon Elite mounts. We'll see how it goes.

          Thanks Captain,
After reading and seeing your post I feel much better about installing ffs on at least 2 of my yaks this winter. It also looks like best option for installing behind the seat of my SIK.
