  • Winter Mods Completed

Some have asked for some pictures of my Winter projects for my Hobie Revo.

I have a new Battery Box with quick disconnect wires. It has a light on the front that acts as a flashlight that is activated with a switch. It has a 12 volt socket on the top and a USB adapter for charging phones, camera's or any USB devices. There are two batteries inside (7a and 12 amp). The 12amp drives only the fish finder. The 7 amp drives everything else. The ac adapter to charge the kayak battery box has the same kind of quick disconnects ends like in the kayak.

I also added two LED lights near the foot well of the kayak shining back to me for some red lights during night fishing. The red lights will not blind you at night like other color lights. It will aid in working in the kayak with lures and the like. There is a push button switch near the fish finder that turns the lights on and off.

I also got a bike helmet and added a camera mount to place a camera like a Go Pro . (Same concept as ComeOnFish Joe)

Very nice moc! Reminds me of an X-wing fighter when the kayak is lit up.

I like the second picture because it show the finish product. However, I love the first pic because it shows the raw mad scientist at work. Great mods and functional too!

In addition to my earlier pics, I also worked on replacement trolling rod holders to my original aluminum version. I wanted something a little lighter with a wider angle from the kayak when trolling. So I decided to try my own PVC version. I also placed reflective tape on it to make it more visible in darker light conditions. I also made a new milk crate based on my earlier milk crate , but with some extras. This new milk crate sports a hinged lid that is spring activated with some bungees on the back side to help lift the lid when trying to lift the lid. Another bungee will lock it. It also has two custom plexi glass boxes bolted to the front. One holds my marine radio and the other holds a hog trough measuring device. There is also two bungees on the lid to tie down a lunch back or a plano box. The milk crate is also sitting ontop of two metal rods that keeps the milk crate and its contents out of the water. The rods are suspended across the back of the kayak so the milk crate will sit at the height of the top edge of the kayak. You could actually slide a fish under the milk crate with the extra space that is made available. The pics will show what they now look like. Some of the work was done in the warm accommodations of Coop1486 garage over the winter and my basement. He had a great garage with all the tools that were critical in bending the PVC pipe to the correct angle on my kayak.

I'm reminded more of the cars with neon under them.... Just jealous. I'm going to have to borrow that idea.

Nice work! That looks like a trolling machine.

The battery box fits in my front hatch perpendicular to the sailing mast. The battery box is a little heavier than my original since I went from having one 12 amp battery to a 12 amp plus a 7 amp battery. Not much more weight. Just the weight of the extra smaller 7 amp battery.
