How does your Hobie paddle without the rudder down? I had an Outback and it was the worst to try to stear while paddeling without the rudder.
My Outback tracks poorly as well; I have an '06 that has the slightly deeper hull and it doesn't track well at all. I'd imagine the newer ones with the flatter hull would track even worse. However, why paddle when you can pedal?
Yeah, I was planning on heading down to Kipto this year and I needed something to be visible. Unfortunately the weather canceled that trip several times.
I am thinking about adding a flag to it as well. It's a piece of PVC, some reflective tape, and a waterproof dive light on top that fits in all of my rod holders so I can move it around. The flashlight was cheap, $10, waterproof to like 100 ft or something, and came with the cone attachment with some color filters. I was thinking I might use the red filter for fishing at night from the beach if I want to detach it from the pvc. Let me know if you're interested and I'll dig up where I found the light.

Reason: reflective tape...
I actually just got that mount you're talking about... I ordered it last week, I'm hoping it will be here in the next couple of days so I can get it installed for the weekend! I'll post pictures of my new boat once I get it all rigged up.
that is a sweet red fish i wish i still had mine, but the hobie needed to be paid for. had to turn the crat to the left because my hat kept hitting the rodswhen they were in the rodholders.
I just purchased a Hobie Pa from Backyard boats and it rides like a dream. Outfitted with garmin gps,Humminbird 385ci fishfinderand a anchor trolley (installed it myself, love to tinker). Have only been using it for bass fishing up in harford county so far. Very stable platform. Plus the customer service at backyard boats is great. I drove over 1.5 hours to get there and i arrived on the only day its closed. called and he opened right up. tadaa he made a sale that day. I do like the way you peddle. you can keep up a regular candence and not really have to push it to go at a steady clip. I would keep a paddle just in case, plus it would help out in case there is a steady rip.
