I would also love to see some pics of how everyone has their PA Rigged.
I think I'm gonna miss not haveing the front rod holders like is on the outback. I had made my own pvc extensions for them and they worked great for me.

When the motor is pulled up the weed eater line goes slack, so there's no pressure on the rudder. If it is harder to turn the rudder with the motor down and running, it is not a factor. It is easy to steer no matter what. Do a search on the forum here and you should find some more info on this particular setup.

Ive searched here and the Hobie forum and havent been able to find much on that type of setup. looks easy enough to do though.
Wondering if this will work with a minn kota motor as well?

image.jpg this is my setup.. I try to keep it simple.

I just broke my HD cart. When i reweld it, it will be done properly. The welds that were done had no penetration. So expect that in time and abuse it will weaken. Im not easy on my cart either. I have taken my yak through some pretty tough terrain.

What's that grey plate/tube on the starboard gunnel?

Dang, my HD cart is pretty solid, welds look good too. You must have gotten a defect.

That aluminum mount was for a stake out pole until i got the power pole. Just because the welds look nice doesnt mean there correct welds. Give it time, with some rugged use it will fail too Lol. i hope yours doesnt though.

I had read that earlier versions of the carts were only spot welded but after reports of failures they started welding them all the way around. Just got my cart this morning and the welds are all the way around at the top but there is gaps in the axle welds and they arent very thick at all. I guess only time will tell how they hold up.

Mine broke on the cross bar with the pad. Everything on mine is spot welded. So yours maybe better

Mine has a full bead all the way around the crossbar (where the pad is), and bead half way around on the inside of the uprights for the axle. Hopefully this "generation" is is strong enough to last. Hard to believe they built the previous version with spot welds...that's weak @$$ baby $h!+ (WABS).

Finally got my PA12 wet this weekend. Did some rigging saturday and got out for a few hours on sunday at mariner point.
Wired up my fish finder and added an anchor trolley.

When launching sunday got down to the ramp and an Identical olive 2013 PA12 was coming in at the same time. Not sure if they are a member here or not and he seemed like he was in a hurry so didnt bother to ask.

Wind and current was pretty strong when we launched so headed to different areathan we normally fish to get out of the wind. I paddled away from the dock for a good ways to see how it paddled and was pleasantly surprised that it was easier to paddle than I thought. Was using a bending branches 250cm classic angler paddle.

Dropped the drive in and could tell right away it was also gonna be faster than I thought it would be as well. My outback just had standard fins and the PA has the turbo fins. I could feel the heavier resistance but after 2 strokes I was pedalling easy and moving alot faster than I ever did in the outback even in a stiff head wind. Not sure if its a turbo fin thing or a PA thing but the fins were hitting the hull on full strokes with a loud thump. I kept adjusting the pedals and my stroke till I was able to avoid them from hitting.

Once we got out of the wind I started doing some turns and right away noticed how much more responsive it is. The PA turns much sharper than the outback as well and its an Immediate response too even at slow speeds.

I didnt plan on trying to stand today but once we got to where we were going to fish I hopped right up and started fan casting an area. Im sure it will take a little while to really feel comfortable standing but it wasnt bad at all and landed my 1st LMB standing in a yak. I have an H-bar coming in june and im sure that will make it easier but not really sure i'll need it. I originally stood from the lower seating position. Later I pulled it up to high seating position and that was even easier to stand. The high position is awesome and I didnt notice any less stability at all and my seat will probably stay up high all the time. Was easy to paddle from there as well.

The other feature I love on the PA is the verical rod storage. I love that!! I usually carry 3 rods and 2 are usually behind me in the crate rod holders and I had to be aware of them when casting. With the vertical storage nothing is in my way at all. I also had my rods in the holders and locked in during the travel to and from my fishing destination. Just one more thing I dont have to load and unload.

Needless to say Im a very happy PA 12 Owner and look forward to alot more fishing with it!!

image.jpgimage.jpgNice! One thing i found out about my pa, its my favorite vessel to fish from. I welded my cart this past weekend. Its safe to say there will be no breaking anymore..

Glad you like the new PA. I am very pleased with my new PA 14. I find the higher seat position more comfortable, but I will lower it when I am working against a strong wind. It cuts down on the amount of wind resistance caused by your body being 4 inches higher.

Your welds look good. It's probably safe to say your cart is now stronger than the current production models. Does it need a rust prevention coating for the new weld(s)?

I used stainless filler. So shouldnt need and rust prevention. I was surprised to see the cart was actually stainless and not just chromed.
