That thing is awesome! Where will you keep the little battery pack while on the water?
How much did the parts cost?

I will just drop it in my crate or velcro it to the side of the pole up out of the way. The LEDs were bought on ebay in 5 foot rolls I believe. Under 20 dollars. The switches were different ones I have had, but they are around 3-6 dollars each. I only used about 18 inches of LEDS on the strips...All total, maybe 30-35$ in parts.

Quad Copter? Cool....

You need to bring that thing to a M&G and capture some aerial shots.

I have some aerial footage of the neighborhood. Still working up the nerve to fly it over water.... I do have a plane built for water takeoffs and landings....I would start with it first, since it floats....The quad doesn't float, and it doesn't glide

This would be the one I would try kayaking with first...

Nice flying, you definitely have good controls of the RC.
I used to fly RC Helicopters... my largest was the Trex 600 (four foot rotor span).
Known to decapitate people.

But on topic... the lights are definitely way cool... and sure do the job.
I know from my heli's... I used 5000mah's and they pack quite a punch.
Mine were, are, like small bricks... and lots of energy in them and 'lipos' are
known to explode....
So... staying on topic.... maybe you should consider a water tight box for the
batteries.. same sort of set we use for our fish finders.
Not that you are going to explode if they get wet... but we are talking saltwater...
and saltwater corrodes most definitely.

Even just salty air is bad for electronics... and does get into the "works" and corrodes.
A good water tight battery box may be a good idea.... and then.. well... I'd charge those specific
"light" batteries outside on a pile of bricks. Lots of videos's of lipos going poof !

I do believe one of the guys... maybe Metroman... uses lipos for his motor on the yak...
and maybe the Torquedo uses them as well.
So there are good resources here, and out there... to help you evaluate a water tight battery box.

Good flying and don't burn the house down with the lipos !!!

I charge them in a metal tool box. I will difinately inspect them closely. Had a 500 trex clone. Never got really comfortable with it. I'm currently fishing out of Marshall hall, waiting for it to get dark enough to test my set up. Got one cat on the stringer already

Lights worked great. The top marker light allowed me to read my watch. I cut the reds on for the picture only. The whites I used at the ramp to load my truck. Almost too bright. I stayed out till 930. Brought 3 cats home, threw the biggest back. Hard to show size in the kayak by yourself. I could not hold it up one handed and take the pic. The yak and my legs are covered in slime. Such a pain to get that out of leg hairuploadfromtaptalk1403320057636.jpg
