  • Humminbird Thru-hull mount kit

Well, I bought another fishfinder: http://www.humminbird.com/Products/PiranhaMax-196ci/

And since I put one on my first kayak and it works so great, I bought the thru-hull kit too: http://www.humminbird.com/Products/MHX-XMK/

They use a patented marine grease that really works well in allowing the transducer to shoot through the hull and read water temps a bit faster than duct seal does. Plus it's more permanent.

However, when I got it in the mail, it was missing pieces! The box had not been opened, but the marine grease wasn't in the box! Anyone else had issues with Humminbird before? How is their customer service?

This doesn't answer the question really but I used duct seal putty and it was easy. I have some if you want to stop by and try it.

The marine grease is listed as "included" in the Instruction Sheet.

      6. After the bracket and adhesive have cured for 24 hours, empty the whole packet of marine-grease (included) into the
      bracket center.

      ...

If you find that any items are missing from your installation kit, call our Customer Resource Center at 1-800-633-1468 or
      visit our website at www.humminbird.com.

The email response wasn't helpful, but I just gave them a call and they are going to ship me a whole new kit no questions asked. Pretty nice customer support lady too.
