  • In need of info for a South Branch float

Planning on doing a fishing float trip on the South Branch Monday. Ideally I would like to end at the mouth of the potomac. I would like to do a 6 to 8 hour trip. Anyone have any info on Put In and a Pull Out locations that would work for this trip? The info I've been able to find online hasn't been very helpful.

This is the Potomac river guide site it might help with river info, lots of interactive maps.

I looked at that map previously. Unfortunately it only has info for the potomac on the MD side. The South Branch flows into the potomac from WV.

        Go to:

        http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/gis/google-earth-files.asp

and click on VA DGIF Maintained Boating Access Locations. This will download a Google earth file with all the Virginia ramp locations.

I also remember seeing some float descriptions on their web site somewhere, giving access locations, float times and a general description of each float.

        Hope this helps.

          Good luck.
