  • Fort Armistead Monday Morning 9/1

Planned a short notice trip to Ft. Armistead tomorrow. Anybody else heading that way tomorrow? I plan on being there 6:30-7AM. Sure wouldn't mind some company as it is my first time out there and could use some guidance. Will be me and the wife in a White Nissan with two matching yellow kayaks. As I now it is us and UnkleRob.

Good luck! Fish old pilings and rocky shoreline and you should do fine and there's plenty of it out there...

Not that great. The wife caught a nice 11" perch on a 3" gulp chartreuse swimming mullet off the second bridge pylon. Rest of the perch we hit along the shoreline fishing a spinner were small. Little excitement hooking a 20" cat over by the Alcoa tanks/pier dropping the gulp into 20-30 foot of water. I don't know if if was just a bad day or my lack of skill. Did have one member we met, UnkleRob try fishing with bait out near the bridge pylons with no luck. He was getting hits and a few fish on a Kastmaster with one of them being something large that got off without being seen.

I want to go back some more. There are some serious edges and plenty of bait and I could see catching some nice fish. Really close to home for me also. Action was enough to keep it interesting and I was on the water. On second thought it was a good day.

Launched at harbor hospital this morning. Got tails bit off by numerous blues I'm guessing on gulp. Landed 5 or so small stripers on the way up into the ponds and in the ponds. Also got one good sized cat on cut bait and one cat that slammed a gulp going under one of the bridges. Bait everywhere. Looks like fall is starting way early
