Does anyone have any experience/luck using Fishbites bait? I was given a pack of the bloodworm style and am wondering if it is worth it or not. If it works it is nice that it keeps for a lot longer then live worms.

Yes. I bought the bloodworm style too and caught croaker, perch, and spot off them.

Yes, the bloodworm fishbites works good for bottom fishing, I catch a lot of spot on them.

Same here, I've tipped flounder rigs with them too.

In my experience, the warmer the water the better Fishbites works. Now is a great time to use it, early spring not so much.

If you dont go, you wont know, and you got to have bait in the water.

Heard from a lot of saltwater fisherman that bwfb by themselves are not as productive this year. Not sure why, maybe they changed the recipe, Combined with fresh bait they work well. I always have a few packs in case I can't find the real thing, better than nothing. In the salt, fresh or live is always the best.

I had a pretty good year with bwfb. But I only have this year to compare it too. 5-15 croakers/spot an hour on them depending on the day.

But I switched due to financial reasons. Fishing 4-6 times a week will eat your live bait budget up.

Man, I can't wait till the time that I have the problem of fishing 4-6 times per week and spending my live bait budget, a few years down the road. but I am looking forward to it. Called retirement.

                    Fishbites are excellent.
Always have a bag or 2 in my vest.

I buy the 1/4" size Bag-O-Worms in the blue bag, ie. the Long Lasting.
An $8.50 bag last longer than a dozen live worms, they don't need refrigeration, and they don't come packed in seaweed that can carry invasive species that don’t belong here.

I tried the Gulp bloodworms. They look like the Creepy Crawlers I made as a kid. But I can't catch even so much as a small spot with them.

Fishbites on the other hand have helped me catch bluefish, spot, croaker, rockfish, and catfish. And this is just my first season using them. I'm hoping to catch some flounder and drum with them while down in the outer banks.

I have caught a flounder or two on fishbites last month. I combo half a Gulp bloodworm run through the hook and a small piece of fishbites over the tip of the hook. My guess is, they see/smell the gulp, nibble at it, and finally take a bite at the fishbites. But my imagination might be running away on that one.

I'm not retired yet, but when I am it will be awfully hard to get ahold of me!

I use them to catch spot for bait, and they do work.Real bloodworms are great but in a cost/benefit comparison( in my mind) it even a question. The last time I bought bloodworms, which is going back a few years they were over $10.00 a dozen, and last for one trip. I cut the 1/4" fishbites into maybe 3/4" pieces and use on each hook of a bottom rig. One or to bags will get me through a season.I try to fish every weekend .
