  • Night fishing?

    Hey guys,

Started kayak fishing about 1.5 years ago, still a relative newbie. I use an 11.5 Feel Free Lure. I see lots of pics from guys fishing at night. Most parks around me (Montgomery/Fred. Cty, MD) are closed at sunset. The Potomac is about 4 mi away but frankly I'm nervous being on a river at night. Should I be? What's the best way to learn how to fish at night? Any tips, suggestions would be appreciated.

Fish the spot you intend to night fish during the day to become aware of any hazards. Fish with friends. Limit your light to reduce night blindness. Its just like night fishing from shore really, only your "shore" is a floating piece of plastic.

What part of the Potomac (Upper Potomac or Tidal)? What species are you looking for?
