Braid for spinning reels

Looking to get some braid - likely 20lb test - to use on spinning reels only. What would you all suggest?

Fireline 20# is what I use, it is black, I don't like bright colored lines.

Powerpro is all I have used but I like it so far. Everyone will have their own preference but I was referred to Powerpro by about half of the people I asked.

Like mweber02 said everyone will have thier own preference and that doesn't necessarily mean the others are "bad". Personally I like Suffix 832 by far the most having tried standard Powerpro and spiderwire as well. I would not recommend the spiderwire.

I use whatever is on sale.
Spider wire and PowerPro work fine and catch fish for me. Doesn't matter what brand or color.

Suffix 832 for me. I would not use Power Pro if they gave it away. I found it very stiff and was told it needs to be "broken in" but if I can't use it fresh off the spool I don't want it. The spools I tried (20#) were so stiff the line retained coils after casting, totally unacceptable for braid.

i don't know what happened but 20# power pro braid broke on me casting a 2oz plug and lost a rat l trap on a fluorocarbon leader. i thought the knot slipped but it looked like the braid broke at the knot. casting it in wind gave me lots of knots and a birds nest, had to cut a lot of it away. maybe cause it was my first time using braid... but so far i'm not impressed. i will try again though maybe not with power pro.

I think it depends on what you are going to fish for. You won't need #20lb for perch or most pan fish. I did an experiment this year with three different brands, suffix 832, power pro and O'hero braid and found that I liked the O'hero better. It has a smaller diameter than the others and comes off the spool easier for longer casts. I couple it with a 20lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader when targeting larger fish and 12lb for pan fish. It costs more than most but I'm happy with it.
Get whatever you can afford, but I found power pro to be the least effective and wears out quicker. Just my two cents.

Not enough good comes from braid to out weigh the bad of it. I used to use it all the time but got tired of weak knots, it floats, and the knot for the leader can be a pain with micro guides, too sensitive, high visibility, and it's not real abrasive resistant. I personally think braid does real well fishing heavy vegetation. And top water plugs. But because it floats it can get tangled with the first hook "while walking the dog" I have always used spider wire. Didn't like fire line, power pro, suffix, Berkley nanofil. I stick with polycarbonate lines now. Like P-line. Double Albright knot is strong but easy to stress your leader while tying causing premature break offs. Superglue your leader knot after you tie it.

I agree with jason, i keep trying it for lighter presentations while bass fishing and its just plain not worth the hassle.

I prefer Sufix 832, it just holds up better and a lot longer than anything else I've tried. I can easily get 2 seasons out of it if I reverse the spool at the beginning of the second season. YMMV.

Years ago I first put spiderwire on a couple of baitcasters, and loved it.

So I bought some for a couple of spinning reels/rods and wasted a lot of it that first morning. It seemed the line had no memory at all and it would knot up going through the line guides and so tightly that I couldn't untie/untangle them.

I bought some Spiderwire Fusion and that worked great. No problems.

Recently I started fishing again (kayak now, bass boat a few years ago) couldn't find any Fusion, so I bought Fire line and it seems to do okay as well. No bad tangles/knots in 4 trips.

The fused line seems to have a small amount of memory and that seems to work better for me than no memory.

Oh, I bought 2 really limber rods for those spinning reels back when I started because the braided/fused line doesn't stretch much and I wanted the flexible rod to make up for some of the line stretch I wasn't getting when setting the hook.
