  • St. Marys County Questions/Advice

in the next week or so I have to go to St. Marys County for work. It should take no more than 20 minutes. Since I'm traveling this far (and getting paid for it ) I thought I might take the yak and get some fishing in. Can anyone tell me what may be biting and where? I have never fished this area before but have seen some nice reports during the summer. Thanks for any advice.

Fishing has certainly changed from the summer. My Veterans Day trip in the mouth of the Patuxent was a bust. Since then I've put the yak to bed for the winter as most of the fishing has moved farther off shore than a yak can get. A friend did report a large school of fish between Smith Creek and Point Lookout in deeper water, so you could try launching at St Inigoes or Point Lookout, but that report was before this cold snap.

Best of luck if you get out

Last week had a lot of good luck at the mouth of the Patuxent off of PAX. If you are working on base you can launch from the beach.
