Cold Stripers?

This is going to be my first year heading out in the cold once I get all the necessary gear. I figure they will all be deep and sluggish. For those nuts that go out and brave the cold for the thrill of a fatty, what are some good locations, lures, and tactics to catch winter stripers? I know I shouldnt go at it alone in cold conditions so I will most likely try and link up if others are going out. Any details will help (depth, water temp, location, etc.)
