Susquehanna Yellow Perch Sunday 12/21

I know it's a bit early in the season, but I am thinking of doing a little yellow perch fishing. The action will be slow and the fish small but I got a free pass to go fishing. I will be launching out of Jean Roberts and heading to Owens Marina Sunday morning. I will fine tune the time later this weekend but I am an early riser. Winds will be 2-3mph, not sure of the generation schedule yet but the river will be flat. This will be the same location for the February Meet and Greet if it's voted on. Get some quality time on the Susky before the neds arrive!

This is a great opportunity for some mindless bottom fishing, test out your rigging, and see if that cold weather gear is well... suited for cold weather. Beginners more than welcome, the more the merrier...Happy Holidays everyone!

Got some intel for YP fishing the Susky. An avid fishing friend of mine who lives on the Susky is catching some nice size YP jigging hi low shad darts on 10lb line around marina pilings and piers from land. He has also been using small plastics on small jig heads on the same set up and doing just as good. Good luck.

Unfortunately, I do not handle cold air temps very well, don't have a problem with cold water, so this time of year the Yak is High n Dry and I work the ramps and docks by land from Port Deposit to Perryville and the Marinas in HdG until I get told to leave, but only if the air temps are above 45 and winds are calm.

Sparky 1423 and I launched around 9 from mariner point. Good news, the perch bite was steady all day. Sadly, the fish were generally in the smallish size range. (not that yellow perch are ever particularly big)

We did best with minnows, but curlytail grubs in chartreuse or pearl worked as well.
