Thanks. Showing up at the WAC meetings shows the county that you really care. There's an article in the Baltimore Sun from *1998* that tells how things did *not* work for public water access in Anne Arundel County - for decades:

The county would buy land for a waterfront park so it didn't become a subdivision. Rec&Parks would start planning the waterfront park. Local residents would make phone calls. Word would come down to stop moving forward on that waterfront park. Rinse, lather, repeat. The result was de facto private waterfront parks paid for with public money. It's not fair.

From that 1998 Baltimore Sun article:

"Purchasing Beverly-Triton and South River Farms are two of the most important purchases we made and one of the most important things I did," said James O. Lighthizer, who was county executive at the time."

The Water Access Committee gives us a place and a voice to tell the county that there is mass support for public water access in Anne Arundel County.
