Ok, a slight twist on my last post about 13 Fishing reels. I was lucky enough to pick up a new lighter weight casting rod today at the flea market. Now I am in search of a quality reel. I've pretty much given up on finding one with a clicker. There was only one I found (Revo Toro) and it was bigger that what I'm looking for. So, I think I'm down to the Abu inshores and Daiwa Lexa 100. Ideally I'd like to be able to throw 3" and larger Rapalas and top water as well as a 1/4 or 3/8 jig head with plastic. I prefer left handed but am not opposed to trying right handed. >$200. What are your thoughts?

Check out the Lews speed spool reels. I got a left-hand version last summer of this one:

I just picked up the Shimano Curado 200i in a lefty and I love it! I'm able to throw a range of baits on it from big to pretty small.

This model is a very smooth reel. I wouldn't use it in the ocean or coastal bays, but I use mine regularly around Annapolis.

i am new to baitcasters so i do not want to spend too much on my first setup. I will be waiting for the spring fishing classic at bass pro next week where they will have their BPS pro qualifier baitcaster on sale for $50.Michael

Mbae- I suggest you throw one before buying. As an example, I have been throwing baitcasters for 30+ years but I could never get used to the Curados. That does not mean they are bad reals just that their system was not for me. Conversely, I've owned many Abu (going back to round reels) and am very comfortable with them. Whatever you spend, just make sure that it is on a reel you can handle with ease.

The Diawa's have a thumb lever that will reengage when you push it back up with your thumb.
