I fished Fletchers today from shore, Wednesday, April 15, 10:45am to 1:30pm. River conditions were great but fishing was slooow. Must be between pulses of shad. I caught 8 hickories, all nice females with eggs. Also caught 2 small male Americans that were barely bigger than the hickories. I ran the gauntlet of jigs and spoons trying to break the shad code to no avail. On average I guess I caught a shad every 30-40 casts. That’s pretty slow for good shad fishing. Several boats were still at the pier when I arrived and same number were there when I left. Maybe a new pulse of shad will arrive in a few days... hope so.
