Mother's Day Masgouf

Fantastic outing at CHSP (http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...908-May-8-CHSP) wouldn't be complete without Masgouf....

All mine were 30+" and in the back of my mind, I was thinking how am I going to Masgouf this?? Thankfully Joe gave me his Bluefish to take home in addition to mine and there was one that was 28". That's about the upper limit of the Masgouf tools I have, so it worked out perfectly












Since the big Bluefish took up my Masgouf space, I did the Tog on the grill. I split it open the same way and then I deboned it...

I will do the eating part only.
When Mustafa demonstrated how to split the head of fish, I learned that I didn't have enough hand strength for the job. I think I will probably injure myself.

LOL! Joe, the knife we used at your house wasn't sharp enough. I used to use a different sharp knife that did the job, but I started using a 6" "Beef Skinning Knife" by Dexter and it cuts through like butter. Tog head was difficult with the other knife I used, but with the beef skinning knife, its so easy. I can show you next time we do it again

Looks great they should make a device that can butterfly and split the head.. Mustafa easily masgouf'd my fish for me in 30 seconds at the beach saved me a ton of work!

I agree with Jimmy. that is the only way I can eat blue fish also. it tastes delicious and does not taste like blue fish. I will be stopping by the masgouf campsite. ... lol
