  • My shortened kayak trip

Hey everyone.... we are back home safe last Sat night. What was supposed to be a 12 day kayak trip from Cumberland to Swains Lock ended up a 3 day trip from Cumberland to 15 mile creek campground. It rained each night from 18th to 20th. We could see the river levels rising at the boat ramps we passed. Most ramps have color stripes indicating the risks. We caught lot of smallmouths and one sunfish. We use 3 inch tubes and fluke jr on 2/0 hooks and pop-r. We will come back someday to finish the trip. I took some pics but haven't download them yet. I guess mother nature had other plans for us. We were quite disappointed but knew we made the right decision to bow out.

Sorry to hear about that. Sounds like a fun thing to do. Fish in the day and camp at night. I might have to try and plan a two day fishing trip.

Damn. Too bad on the weather.
I know the feeling well. I was a Boy Scout as a kid and went on a loads of canoe trips on the Potomac.
      Many were cold and wet.
