I'll be moving to Leesburg, VA next week for work and wanted to introduce myself to the site. I'm moving from Leander, TX and plan to be in VA for 2 years. I'm peddling a 2015 outback and mostly bass fish with an occasional trip to the gulf for some BTB and bay fishing. I'm an active member of www.texaskayakfisherman.com and am trying to familiarize myself with this forum. I'm looking for some good maps/reading for fishing the Potomac and the Chesapeake bay. Any recommendations? I look forward to meeting up with some fellow kayak anglers!

Here's a list of places you can hit in the area on the Virginia side for bass:
- leesylvania state park which is on the Potomac across from Matawomen MD
- Occoquan Reservoir. You can launch off Lake Ridge Park (deeper end towards dam) or Fountainhead (more shallow)
- Mason Neck State Park. Grass and shallow cove.
- Burke Lake
- Beaverdam creek in Ashburn, VA ( Loundoun County). They just reopened this for this year while they fix up the place.
For salt, you will have to drive 2-4 hrs to get to some good spots. Depending on species:
- Rock Fish/Striper Bass - Bay Bridge in MD, Point Lookout State Park
- Flounder, Spades, Sheepshead, Cobia, etc - Virginia Beach area.
Just do a search on here. There's plenty of info to research on.

Yes welcome to VA and Snaggedline. I live in VA and fish mainly out of MD waters for stripers/white perch with the occasional trip to Delaware to fish. What type of kayak do you fish out of? The meet and greets are a great place to meet and learn from as well.
