Was wondering same thing. But it was not just on Snaggedline. I noticed more banner ads on different sites that I did not notice before. If you run firefox or chrome, you can install an addon to block all the ads (adblock). It will allow you to specify blocking all ads or only ads on certain sites, plus it offers some additional features to block malware and stuff.

Hopefully it is done on purpose. Grilled and the guys that run the site have done it on their own dime for several years. Hopefully the are getting some bucks to pay for the site and maybe make a few bucks. I am VERY thankful to them for the excellent job they have done and hope they can make some money.

If not, I hope everyone of you guys will join me in contacting these companies to tell them that you will not buy their products because of the deceptive advertising

I noticed the ads also starting yesterday.

I don't mind if it helps to keep the site alive. I also thank the administrators for their work and skill in keeping it going.

Snaggedline has been a valuable resource for many of us.

I figured it might be done to help pay for the site. Don't mind if they are there for that purpose. This is an awesome site that we get use without paying anything for it. I was actually surprised that there were never any ads in the past. Like I said, the addon will allow you to choose which sites you want to block ads from. If those ads are actually to help pay for the site, you can tell the addon to not block ads from this particular site if you choose to do so.

I agree it doesn't appear to be adware type ads. It's targeted Advertising as mine continually has kayak/fishing stuff scrolling through.. hmm I wonder why...

I'm getting the ads on my FireFox.

I agree with MM, Mark, and John. If it helps keep the site up, I'm all for it. But maybe it could be a floating one on the bottom. The ones I get are top center, so I have to close them to log in and again to check my messages.

These are google adsense ads. So yes, the admins are probably trying to generate a little cash to keep the site going, as they should. It costs money to host a site such as this with a lot of activity. I am also very thankful to them for all the work they do pro-bono for us all.

Keep in mind that they'll only get paid if we click on the ads, so if you see an ad you're interested in, don't hesitate to click it!

And I don't have any problem with ads either if it can potentially cash flow the boys working hard behind the scenes.

glad they at least moved the ad location.

This might be one of the rare websites that I do not mind being shown ads, since it helps with the costs of running a site.

Hey guys. Yes the ads were done on purpose, its not spam or malware. We've recently upgraded our server which is a lot more costly than what we had before. I've placed the ads where it won't interfere with any of the images or posts. There won't be any popups, i promise. Those are annoying. We are just trying get a little revenue to help pay for hosting costs and maintenance of the site.

dont be mad. we're just testing the waters with it right now, so we'll see. the more the site grows, the more expensive things get, who would have thought? lol. i hate popups, and crazy amounts of ads too, but hopefully these wont be too annoying, trying to keep them at a minimum.
