I'm new to VA and am looking to tag along with someone this weekend. Anyone going out near the Ashburn area Saturday or Sunday morning?

I ended up changing my plans and launched at the Algonkian Regional Park. I went downstream and was hoping to fish the Sugarland Run but there were a few downed trees blocking the entrance. I launched at around 6:30 and there were fish blowing up left and right. The grass was very thick so I gave up on rat-l-traps, spoons, anything that had a treble hook. I started throwing soft plastics and hollow body frogs but nothing was taking. I couldn’t get a good look at what was blowing up and finally figured out it was carp. I found a tree that was dropping nuts in the water so I picked a couple up and tied them to a small hook. I threw on some carp bait also to add some scent. I watched a carp swim up to it, stop, then turn away. I gave up on the carp after that. I ended up catching one small perch on a small crank bait. I caught him on the West point of Sharpshin Island pretty late into the morning. There were several kayak anglers on the water and I called it a day at around 10am. The water level was a bit surprising. Most of the area was 2-4’ deep (the deepest I found was 5-6’). Water clarity was 3-4’ and water temps were around 82F.
