Spinner bait

I'm going To sandy point on Sunday and wanna use a spinner bait can somebody share some knowledge and how they work at sandy point? Should I stay near the pillows or go near the center for deeper water also do I need to attach weight to it to get it deeper

I don't think anyone uses one around the bridge. You would probably need one around an ounce to get it down with the current and the lift from the blades ........ Don't see why it wouldn't work ...... I use to use buzz baits on the flats for Stripers.

Spinner baits around the bridge pilings aren't the best choice for Perch. They are best used in shallower water up about 8-10 feet, and in little current. Strong current will force them to run too high, unless as MM said you add a lot of weight in front, which kinda defeats the purpose.
Maybe very close to the shore areas.
Stripers (and maybe strippers) will hit the spinner jigs, just ask bluefish 1928 about the 20 incher he caught last week.
Could they be fished deep around the bridge?, yeah, sure, but they aren't the best way to target perch there.
Small paddle tails, curly tailed jigs will get down a little deeper.

We target perch under the pilings with soft crab and do real well.

Thanks for the info im gonna use bloodworms. Spot when I get to the deeper water and try bass kandy in deeper water. You think that good set up?

Live lining spot that you catch with bloodworms is good for stripers, if you have a way to keep the spot alive on the kayak.
Spot have been pretty hard to come by this year, which is why we have been fishing soft crab on conventional bottom rigs. Not as much fun as light tackle jigging but we are catching some nice perch.
BKD's on a 1 ounce jig head is a good choice as well. That is good for the stripers.

Stripers will definitely strike spinner baits.

White perch and stripers are in the same fish family and schoolie stripers often share the water with white perch when feeding.

Occasionally you'll be surprised by a larger striper while catching white perch on an 1/8 oz. spinner as Harry (On the fly) was in Weems Creek on Monday.

Or you can target stripers with larger spinner baits, especially in shallow waters. It would difficult to use them as Memory Maker and bignose said in deeper waters near the Bay Bridge.
