Thanks for all the input. I had a great time over the weekend. I spent all day out at Good Hands at Kent park. I wouldn't say the bite was on, but it wasn't off either. Had a catch or bite about every hour. In total I pulled in 6 striper and 2 white perch (I think) but the stripers were fairly small...about 12 inches each. Seems like they fight harder/longer than LMB in my opinion. All were caught on 1/2 oz jig heads with little watermelon/purple swimbaits. It wasn't the most exciting thing, but trolling seemed to pick them up more than hitting structure.

Found a great hole by the seawall (see photo) where I pulled out 2 and missed another. I heard an engine coming up behind me turned around as a party boat with 8 people steered in close about 20 feet away. The driver asked, "how's the bite?" I told him it was good, then watched in disbelief as they dropped anchor and 8 people started casting lines, some of them literally over my own, less than 20 feet away. Unbelievable. Is this kind of thing common? Can't say I've ever seen that kind of thing on the ponds. Most folks just want to be left alone lol.

Largest one of the day was 14 1/2, just slightly smaller than the one I pulled in at Aquia a couple weeks back.

      Transitioning from Bass to Off-Shore

LOL, there was a decent thread a few weeks ago on how people will surround those catching fish and what people do to avoid or troll the hoarders.
Striper most definitely fight harder than LMB. One reason why I have also been in transition to in-shore. I put them up there with smallmouth.

I'm waiting for Rocktober to happen, I think it will happen in less than a month. You can use the same bass gears, just need to upgrade your line a little and give it a good wash afterward. I like to use 20 lbs braid since I can use the same rod to catch SH, you will probably need 30 lbs leader for the blue or steel wire. I usually go to Annapolis area for this, it's about 1 hour drive from NoVA. You will know when to go since people(*hint* Cowhokey) will post some insane catch rate.

As for SH, they might be scary looking but they are chicken and get spook easily. Your best bet is finding a place that bass boat can't get to, I caught many of them like that.
