  • More on " yum yum yellow"

Many questions on what color yak or gear to choose and does yellow bring on shark attacks. Here is another article from CNN for your reading pleasure:
Do sharks really like 'yum yum yellow'?

I suppose now we need to watch out for cows. Looks like they kill a lot more folks than sharks do.....

I'm far more worried about a deer jumping in front of my car on the way to fish in the mornings.

I'm really surprised by the dogs figure, trying to figure that one out without too much mental imagery.

Interesting read. You are far more likely to get eaten by shark in the United States than anywhere on Earth based on the statistics I have seen. But it never seems to happen in Maryland and is extremely rare in VA. The majority of shark attacks have been in Florida.

          http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks...tack/World.htm

Over 1,100 unprovoked shark attacks have been reported in America, according to the map linked above (closer to 1,300 if you include Hawaii, which is not included on the main map for some reason). 52 last year alone, according to the original link--and the numbers seem to increase every year from what I have read in other articles recently. Seems to me that numbers might be higher, since some assumed drowning victims who were never seen again might have really been shark attacks.

-I have also seen several reports of sharks attacking kayaks. I wonder what color those kayaks were...yum yum yellow perhaps? Swimming in the ocean in certain locations is like putting yourself back in the natural food chain. We are safe in our kayaks, but there is always a remote chance of becoming shark food if you do end up in the water.

            A popper to a striper = a surfboarder to a shark.

Only the intentions of the human participants in the equation are different.

When I bought my Torque, I figured the yellow color would make me more visible to other boaters. I never thought that the sharks would be attracted to a big yellow log.

But with cows beating sharks out at killing humans by a margin of 82:1 I have to ask myself... what color kayak attracts cows?

Good thing almost all of my gear is yum yum yellow.

Guess I'll keep my feet in the kayak.
