I have my license. Been flying for a little over 10 years now. Kayaking is easier on the wallet these days.

LOL we joke about it all the time...the bush pilots in Alaska would strap a kayak to an airplane in a heartbeat and not think twice about it! If I could, I probably would.

Did my bit in a Grumman AA5B Tiger

                Brings back memories.

Hold commercial/instrument Instructor ratings. Was the Ops Manager at Suburban Airport in Laurel B.C. (Before Children)

Owened a Grumman Tiger. Loved the pivoting nose wheel and slide back cockpit cover. But you had to keep the speed below 105 and even that pulled your hair by the roots. The open cockpit was most practical on summer days on hot tarmac. Slide it back and use the prop for a fan as you taxied.

Flew mostly Cessnas as a student but had a quite a few hours in a Piper Arrow and got my multi-engine rating in an old Apache.

Nice...I know some people who are kin/close friends to the owners of Suburban. Perhaps you may know them too. Everyone who has Grummans loves them. Decent performing lil airplanes. I fly a Cherokee 140, based out of College Park now,...nothing special.

Of course the Cherokee is special. Suspect except for the C152s and 172s, more safe hours flown in the Cherokee than any other plane.

I knew Guy and old man Altman (a germanic pun) but haven't spoken with any of them in over 20 years. 'The ops mgr job I had was the best job and worst paying job I've ever had, except for the maybe the time I was barback for Shepherd's Park, the old strip club on Georgia Avenue

Aw man you all are killing me, I flew out of W18 till about 2000, when the 2nd kid came, there went the money
Charlie (the owners son in law ?) was running the place back then. Don was my instructor, and Capt. Ed
I grew up in Montpelier, right under base to final for "3"
once I had my 1st dual time with Bill F in his Pitts, the 172 got kinda boring

Ha! I'm friends with a couple of guys in Bill F's "pitts crew". I've gone up with them, but never with Bill himself.

Surprisingly, I've never flown out of W18.
