  • There's an app for that - adapting to FF failure

Once again, my FF crapped out as I was trolling around Hog Island this morning. I was resigning myself to jigging by the breakwater and various points when I remembered about an app that a kayak fisherman in the Boston area told me about. It is called Skipper.

With it I was able to see my position on a NOAA chart and track my trolling speed - all in real time. I will confess that all I found was Dinks, but it was much better than fishing blind!

Now I just need to figure out what is up with my FF battery. Going to have to get a new one soon. The tournament is coming up fast!

    Good to have redundancy.

I have the Navionics app as my backup. Got it for $10 before they changed to the In-App Purchase format.
