Last night right at dusk the birds started bombing closer and closer and then the water started boiling just in casting range and i spent the last half hour of what little light was left catching blue after blue all in the 12-18 inch range and a few keeper stripers in the mix randomly. woke up this morning to some slight wind and muddy water right before sunup but decided to make some casts anyways. first cast and WAM!!!! first fish 20.5. into the bucket it went. then nothing for 15 minutes. they wouldn't hit my goto lure anymore i guess. so i picked up the 3/8 ounce jig head with a 4 inch Zman on it and made a cast. WAMMO fish on. second fish 21.0. well I'm limited but i decided to keep fishing and play catch and release. today was weird. they didn't want it just straight reeled in. i had a loop in my reel and while i got it out the next fish hit on the fall. so after that one i continued to reel and fall in a jigging fashion and almost every cast was a hookup. no boiling water but there sure was a ton of fish. the shortest fish went 18!!!! this school was a cut above the usual coming in. most fish went over 20 with the biggest going 25.5. the last pic was a random and my first here (RED FISH)!!!!! too bad it missed the 18 inch minimum by one inch but it fought a darn good fight. didn't expect to see that at my pier. I'm guessing i landed over 40 fish before the bite ended. today proved having muddy water didn't kill the bite, i just had to make adjustments. lessons learned in an exciting way thats for sure.
