Good luck tomorrow, wish I could make it. I fished the Severn for a few hours today and hooked a few pickerel but nothing to brag about. Stay safe out there, seemed like the bridge by Jonas was the starting line for boat drag races towards the end of the day. I got buzzed by two and on my way in I saw a yak by the bridge get buzzed by three in a row.

Thanks to all who joined us today. Most participants were rewarded by catching fish and all received advice and guidance that will be helpful on future trips to the area. I look forward to their individual reports.

A few stripers and mostly pickerels sweetened a beautiful day of unseasonably warm weather. I hear the forecast is calling for temperatures 30 degrees lower next weekend! I'd say we were very fortunate today.

I was also fortunate to have the assistance in organizing this M&G of John Rentch who made the reservations at the Red Hot & Blue. John also paved the way with the ranger at Jonas Green to let him know that upwards of 20 kayak anglers would be using the park today. Thanks a bunch John!

Thanks also to John Veil who gave an overview of the Severn to Snaggedliners not familiar with the area. It must have worked because many returned with reports of fish.

Here are a few photos of the day:

I did not fish for this Meet and Greet, but my scheduled freed up so I could stop by and visit the gang for lunch. It turned out to be a very good Meet and Greet. Well done Mark and John! I took a few pictures at Jonas and at lunch that I will include here.

What a great day to be out on the water! It was amazing to see so many boats gearing up to launch at Jonas before the sun came up.

I opted to put in on Weems Creek and had marginal results there. Moving up river to some of the other tribes led to similar outcomes. Since it was so nice and our desire to actually have a decent day Catching fish, Scott and I opted to relocate to the Magothy area where we had more success.

Sadly, this cost us the opportunity to join everyone for lunch. I am sure you all had a blast.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the water down the line.

                    • Take a look at photo #6 in moc's post. The green boat was not one of our fishing fleet. It was used by a guy out for some exercise. That kayak is modular and breaks into two halves. I saw him carrying one of the halves back to the parking lot.

It would not be my choice for a kayak, but it does offer some storage and transportation advantages.

Thanks to Mark and John for a well-organized event. I recommend that those two be put in charge of weather logistics for all future events.

                          • Mark,

Thank you for the spinner and the great advice! I fished Weems with two others and we all landed several pickerel. I ended up with seven with a fair number of misses and follows. The three of us had never targeted pickerel but you made sure we knew what to do!

                            Thanks again,
                            Steve M.

Great first time at Jonas Green. Thanks to Mark for the spinner and John for the paddletails. I used them for the few pickerel I caught and before that got on a few striper between the two bridges. Just about right in the middle actually. Both were around 19 but couldnt get any more to bite. Perfect weather for being on the water though.

                              • Was nice meeting several of you guys at the Tucker St Ramp and out on the water. Could not locate the rockfish that I caught last weekend but I had a successful day with 10 pickerel on Luce Creek, 3 were over 20", biggest was 24". All caught on 1/8oz jig with 3" paddletails, bass assassin glowtreuse, fat sam (courtesy of John Veil) but DOA white/chart tail was most successful.

                                cheers,
