I'm going out Saturday morning with one of my good friends and it's his first time kayak fishing. He was looking to get some delicious rockfish for his mother. Where i usually fish in the Severn I've only recently been catching Schooley's. I was looking to show him a good time and wanted to know if you guys could help me out with any spots that I could get some keepers or possibly big rock fish. Any rockfish over 30 inches I would throw back because they are the best for breeding but anything in the 20 to 25-ish range I was looking to keep one or two. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If the wind is down, you could try Beverly Triton...sounds like there has been some keepers being caught there over the past week or two. Just be careful of the wind if your both not experienced. I avoid the open water on the bay once the wind gets over 15mph or so.

The launch itself is quite easy. You can unload your boat and then drag it a few hundred feet to a smooth, sand beach. You will then need to drive your vehicle back to the parking area - 2 minute walk.

Wind direction and intensity are definite considerations because you are immediately exposed to the bay

Cold weather gear is essential also. Bay is about 55 and air temps about the same so we're below the 120 degree combined rule of thumb for hypothermia.

          Be careful.
