  • As my "post" count keeps rising, so do the length of these fish!

So a buddy and I went out this morning around 740. Sun was up and we felt good. An hour passed by and the sun tucked back under the covers. In the meantime we came across some baits skipping across the water. We decided to troll since there was not much going on up top. and wow. did we score. I hooked up to a nice 32" in about 7 foot of water. My medium light rod was bent all the way over and my abu garcia revo inshore was bottomed out and screaming. Talk about a rush. We keep catching one after another in the mid 20's range. THEN my buddy hooks up. He had a beefier setup since he normally fishes his cc. he mustve been about 500 feet away and yells! "i need your help!" i quickly turn around and keep in mind my lines are still in the water. so in the distance that i was heading to him i pulled a double. so now i have two fish on my lines, and have a buddy that needs my help. i quickly tend to my two that were average size and head over to him. MAN a big fish indeed. His bad boy measured at 35 inches without pinching the tail! what a great day!20160109_094200.jpg20160109_103352.jpg2016010995094436.jpg

What the hell are they doing in 7' feet of water?!?!? Don't they read the books that say they should be way deeper at this point?

Hold on... no fish finder and a paddle kayak?! And you can catch fish that way? hehe

And way to get on them again!

But be careful with the waders and not physically wearing the pdf in winter though. I had a coworker get in a bad situation and drown that way. At a minimum, make sure you have a wader belt on.

I've never been too hot to wear my life jacket while kayaking.
Those are some nice looking fish. Stay on them!

Great fish. What body of water are you fishing? Potomac? I tipped my kayak a few weeks ago under the key bridge. I forgot my wading belt that day. Although there is not a threat of sinking once my waders filled up but it made it near impossible to get back in my kayak with the waders filled with water. I got in on my second attempt and I had a guy with me who helped keep my kayak stable with the increase of weight in my waders. I had a hard time moving in the 43 degree water and had contemplated taking my PDF of to take my waders off. Or call the coast guard.
