              1. avoid death or dismemberment. (use anti-exposure suit for winter fishing; use gas engine lanyard; consider using Torqeedo lanyard more - those blades are sharp and spin pretty fast).

              2. avoid DNR seizing craft. (keep Bob Marley music low - this always gets them sniffing around).

              3. not let other boneheads like me bother me. seriously, everybody gets in the way accidentally or on purpose some times. try to remember there are more than one fish in the sea, more than one spot on the lake, more than one fishing day during any peak period, but only one aged, cholesteral-soaked aorta keeping me dangling over the water on this beautiful blue planet.

I have a few goals for this year.

                1. Check out a pond that I've seen in Google earth that has a mile plus portage

                2. Shark fishing from a kayak.

                3. Land 8' shark from boat.

I vote to combine #2 and #3 (minus the boat)!

I don't know if I'm man enough for it. I had a couple instances this year I couldn't comprehend in a kayak. I slipped and was close to being pulled over the side due to a big shark. We never wound up seeing it. Couldn't do anything with him with 65# line. Also had one pull a 20' boat up wind in a good gust while on anchor. Palmed the spool when he'd had 3/4 of my line out and snapped him off. I honestly think these scenarios might be a little too dangerous for me in a kayak.

isn't 50 lbs the real Striper benchmark? but can't catch it if you get cocooned in 65lb braid and kilt by a shark so please take care my friends.

60lbers are possible lol. I don't weigh anything I catch in my kayak, I base everything off length.

Did okay in the surf with them this year, hoping for the same results from the kayak!
