  • Vibe sea ghost 130 or Lure 11.5

Thinking about purchasing one or the other. Any suggestions on which one would be better? The seat is the big thing that is pulling me toward the Lure but I like the two extra feet on the Vibe(faster).
    Wheel in the Keel...Lure
    Seat.....Lure
    Length......Vibe
Price....Vibe ($200 less for more boat!)
I am land locked so fresh water only. Lakes and rivers (New River).
Narrowed it down to these two boats.
    Dang.......Somebody help!!!!!

I will tell you this, the lure is sitting at 36" wide if I remember right. That will make it one chore to paddle any kind of distance. But on the flip side makes a great river or small lake boat. I know there are a couple of vibe owners here....hopefully one will chime in but at launch he told me he wished he would have spent a little more on a nicer yak. I cant really speak for either boat just going from specs of each kayak. I've had A LOT of different styles of kayak. Just depends on how you will use it, and what your style of fishing is that will help narrow it down for you. But as far as a more versatile kayak I'm sure the vibe will handle more water conditions if you later choose to take it other places.

Well put Lovett88, I own a lure 11.5 and it is like paddling a WWII battleship. And also well said on it depends on the type of fishing one does.
I am a self proclaimed weirdo and ONLY salt water Fly fish so the 3 foot wide by 5 foot long flat padded deck space is what is what I use most (we strip our line to retrieve and it falls at our feet so snagged line in fly fishing is bad when fighting fish). I am 6 foot and 185 and can stand with both feet on the rail and she doesn't tip over. Perfect for fighting tarpon on my trips to the keys. also super quiet for stalking bones and permit. As far as salt water FLY fishing kayaks go this thing is tough to beat and the seat is ALL DAY comfortable. The wheel in keel is a bit tippy, and works ok on paved surfaces. On grass or sand it is easier to drag the vessel and a cart would be needed for long movement over soft ground. SO I can answer part of the riddle that unless you are a specialist like myself and don't plan to troll, or paddle more than a mile or so there are more versatile yaks out there than the lure.
The other parts of your concerns will be better answered by the folks who fish like you want to fish. IF YOU ONLY FISH STANDING UP and are an accomplished distance athlete (myself 4 year all Marine Marathon Team) then the lure is great. If not like me thewn definitely keep asking questions and let the forum members know more about your type of fishing.

Jake237 I do some fly fishing too but am no athlete.
Lovett88 are you referring to the guy wishing he had not bought a Vibe or Lure and did he say why?

He had the vibe. He didn't really get into details but I think it came down to the features of the kayak. As far as fishing elements the vibe is more of a blank slate. Ie no gear tracks, older style seat, no transducer scupper, ect. Not to knock that kayak....with each yak there are gives and takes. Just a matter of how you use it to fit your needs as a not only a fisherman but a kayaker.

They must have changed it for 2016. It has gear tracks and a protected transducer mount location now.

Just saw this post on craigslist. Looks like vibe has a lawn chair style seat now. Also like you mentioned it now has gear tracks. Looks like a pretty solid boat to me. Now this has me looking at it as a 2nd kayak.
