i usually stick the hook through the eyes or in the dorsal area with a 5/0-7/0 circle hook. should try Pinchs method and stick a big honking treble in the dorsal

I don't use this necessarily for jigging but I believe it would work well. I usually just cast and retrieve. Krocodile spoon. Absolute kryptonite on rock fish and blue fish. If you haven't tried it you won't be disappointed. I usually just use the chrome one but take the treble off and just use a large single with the barb flattened. I also try to use a heavier weight leader maybe 2', like 50lb test. If you can throw it out and reel it in it will catch you fish. I'm not sure what it is, but the spoon has a wobble to it that is irresistible to predatory fish.
