  • Bull Run Marina – Occoquan Reservoir Question

Is there an entrance fee to get into the Bull Run Marina? I wanted to check out the bass fishery there this weekend.

At the marina itself I think you need the season pass. If you go to fountainhead park it's $4. I haven't kayaked there yet, but I've fished it plenty on a Jon boat.

Yes Bull Run Marina requires a season pass and a key deposit. Launching at Fountainhead is $5 for non Fairfax residents.

Season pass for non residents to shore launch a kayak is $70, the key fee is $20. The pass is good for all the Fairfax regional parks. Such as pohickbay, occoquan regional park, fountainhead and others.

This is correct. There are also some permutations of the above; for instance, you can get a season pass for just Algonkian and Occoquan if you want to pay less. Or shore vs. ramp launches.

There's public parking across the street from Bull Run Marina. If you've got the energy--or don't want to spend the money for the pass--it's completely possible to cart your yak down the dirt hiking path toward the bridge. Bear in mind, it can be a little tough. I took my PA12 down that way twice before coughing up money for the season pass.
        I need a good paddling
