  • Wilson Bridge Bluecats

I finally managed to get some free time to hit the water. I didn't feel like driving anywhere so I hit the Wilson bridge. I was on the water around 10:30 and found my first Blue catfish abut 2 minutes later. I lost a few big ones do to line and leader breakage but managed to get re-rigged and find them again. I caught around 30 or so in 4 hours with the biggest being 34" - 35"

I was using an 8/0 circle hook with chicken breast and that caught everything from the dinks to the big ones. I just kept moving from spot to spot as each one slowed down. That's the beauty of the Wilson, they are almost always there just have to keep finding them. The wind and current were against each other most of the day and the added boat traffic didn't help with trying to hold position but I managed.

Good to see a blue catfish report! A couple of those things look like tanks.

Those are some nice blue cats Jimmy..... I may be down on the Wicomico this weekend. I will see if there are any of those critters down there.

Jones Point park under the bridge on the VA side in Alexandria. There is a floating dock and it's free to use.

I don't keep any from here but plenty of people do.

Very nice. I went to scope out that launch a few months ago and it seemed like a huge drop down to the water, like almost 3 feet. Am I thinking of the correct spot?

That is it. It's probably two 2 1/2 feet, once you've done it it's no big deal. I've seen people use sit inside's sit on tops and inflatable's off of it
