  • Bird Whisperer

I encountered a seagull needing help before I launched. This time , it wasn't me who hooked a bird. After hooking 3 birds while kayak-fishing in the past, I knew how to rescue a bird or remove treble hooks from a bird.
Regarding Fishing - I pedaled for 3 hours chasing some birds to see if Spanish Mac arrived in the upper Chesapeake Bay (Breezy Point, MD). Well I didn't catch any, even a small bluefish on a small golden spoon.

Here is my 4th seagull I dealt with. This time I was a good guy who didn't cause the chaos for the bird:

Way to go. Just lovely to see such a kind soul and competent impromptu bird surgeon.

That was a good deed. I have caught quite a few gulls over the years, but always by wing wraps from my line. I never had a hook go into their bodies. Placing a cloth over the bird's head is a useful first step. Well done.

          Joe,

Your day was a complete success, even without catching a fish.

          Such patience, skill and caring.

          Thank you for sharing.

Never hooked a bird in all my years of fishing, good to see how it's done when I inevitably do. Thanks for the how-to.
