  • Launch close to the mouth of the Choptank

I am looking for a launch close to the mouth of the Choptank River in Talbot County. Would the Oxford ramp or Trappe Landing work? I have never fished over that way and might head over there in the morning. I hear there are some Spanish mackerel being caught under the boil!

As always, thanks for any suggestions.

There's a good and free launch at Dogwood Harbor on Tilghman Island on the left a mile or so after the Knapps Narrows bridge. There's a smaller public "landing" that you can squeeze a lighter kayak into the water closer to Black Walnut Pt at the southern tip of Tilghman Island.

Stop at Chesapeake Sporting on K.I. on your way down. There's a guy who who works there that knows Black Walnut Pt.

There's also Lowe's Wharf, due east of Poplar Island. Not the Choptank, but in the general area. Try a pm to Coop. He lives 5 min from Lowe's and knows what's happening fishing wise.
