I went out fishing for a few hours Wednesday. The weather was good, so I thought I would get out to the open bay while I had the chance. Also, there were boats trolling in the shallow areas where I like to troll in the river. With the engines beating up the area, it was not going to be so great with a kayak, as the river is basically shallow as far as trolling goes. I trolled around towards Tolly Point and hooked up with one under sized striper. On the way back into the river around my usual fishing areas, I noticed birds circling back towards home. The boats were now gone. I found the fish in one small area. The stripers had a huge school of peanut bunker pushed up into 3-4 feet of water. The school of bunker extended out into about the depth of about 8 feet. It was game on, during that last hour before sunset. I caught 18 stripers, from 14 to 22 inches. One can see from the photo of the fish finder the small area that I was working.
