Mid-Severn report 6/3/17

The fishing is getting better day by day. I hooked up to ten fish this morning between 18"-23" with the 23" being the only keeper. My bucktail/paddletail combo has seen the most action but today's keeper went for a chrome/green 1oz rat-l-trap running around 4-6 ft deep in 22ft of water.

My video editing skills are far less superior than most that post here but here's a short one from this morning's 23".

Nicely done!

Watching the video I was cringing thinking the combination of a flopping fish and an exposed Rat-L-Trap treble was going to stick you in the shins.

Haha! The camera's view is a bit deceiving as the fish and lure are a good 20" away from my legs. If I were ever in that kind of danger, I'd just pull him back into the drink and hope the lure stays hooked. I'd much rather have my health and no fish than a fish, treble hook wound, and possibly flesh eating bacteria.

Yeah, they're running a little earlier than last year. I don't know what this will do to our summer season but I'll take it for now.

Yeah it's hard to say. When I got back from Colorado last year in July I caught a limit almost every trip on the Severn, but years before it was inconsistent. I'll be back in town this upcoming weekend, so we shall see!

nice video and catch... I have the same Rattletrap but never caught a fish with it. I will use it on my next trip this week...
