  • Impromptu St Mary's Get Together

Been seeing a lot of posts from folks in St Mary's and the slower lower recently that I haven't had the chance to run into on the water. Hoping to rectify this a bit by hosting an impromptu meet and greet for those folks on Saturday June 24 at St Inigoes. To beat the heat a 5:30 launch. I'll be there with donuts and OJ to sweeten the deal. Not planning any lunch afterwards, fish as long or short as you want.

See you there...I don't live in St. Mary's but most of my fishing is there...and I caught one of my biggest Speckled Trout here at Smith Creek last July...

Prefished it today. Bring light jig heads and something chartreuse. Mostly schoolies up to 18 but there are some keepers.

i'm jealous of you guys who can fish before clocking into work.

pending wind reports, we may try to get down there at dawn tomorrow.

We're the Southern Maryland Old Guys (SMOG). We've done our time on the pine and now we get to play again.

Yes Calvert is part of the slower lower, although north of Price Frederick is perhaps a tad refined to be part of the slower. We're launching at the St Inigoes ramp. It's on the St Mary's county website. End of Beachville road if that helps

St. Inigoes on Beachville Road...just a few miles down from St. Mary's College on Smith Creek...Kitts Point...off MD route 5S...the 25 1/2 inch striper today means I have reached my limits of bringing fish home for the freezer...Got 12 keeper stripers so far in 2017- boneless, skinless filets in my freezer- five keeper speckled trout- boneless, skinless filets, seven bags of catfish filets, three bags of white perch filets, so it is catch and release for me for a while...
